Artist: Dora Mungkirna Napaltjarri
Name of work: Kundawarra
Dora Mungkirna Napaltjarri
Region: Balgo, West Australia
Size: 120 x 40 cm
Description:  Dora has painted some of her traditional country, which is found east of Balgo in the Tanami Desert. This country is known as Kundawarra and is near the present day Tanami Gold Mine.

Depicted here is part of the Wati Kutjarrarra, or Two Men Dreaming.

Shown here is their father, Wauwltjow Tjungurrayi, an evil man who had many many wives, all of the wrong skin group. Any children born to these women he would kill, and it was only in the face of great danger that the mother of the Wati Kutjarra brothers saved them. Tjungurrayi is shown at either end of the painting, sitting with his many wives, while the central 'path' is where he slept amongst the women.

The central circle is Kundawarra, a soak water, while two nearby soaks are also shown.
