This painting depicts the koolipi,
or bush banana plant. Koolipi is found throughout the desert regions, often
on the softer soil of road or track verges.
The fruit of the koolipi is shown as the broad green shapes,
surrounded by the flowers. The flowering stage of the plant itself is shown
in the centre of the painting.
Koolipi is usually cooked before it is eaten. |
